About this circular Leland Blue Stone Bottle Stopper by Shoreline Gems
A 25 mm circular Leland Blue Stone is set in a food grade bottle stopper that is not subject to corrosion. Due to the acid in wine, chrome stoppers are subject to corrosion. This one is known as a mini teardrop stopper and will fit any standard wine bottle.
Leland Blue is not an actual stone, but a by product of smelting iron ore in the northern portions of Michigan’s lower peninsula. There were numerous foundries in the upper peninsula as well. The colors produced from the foundries in Leland and Elk Rapids seem to have produced the most desired colors of blue. The artisan collects Leland Blue Stones and then cuts and polishes them for use in these beautiful pieces.
Leland Blue has quickly become one of the most beloved stones. Its shades can range from pale sky blue to deep indigo, often streaked with veins of contrasting colors like white, gray, or even hints of purple.
